If you've ever ridden the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain, queued for the Jasper SkyTram, or slept at the Forest Park Hotel after a long day on the trails, you've already handed your money to Pursuit Attractions and Hospitality. You probably didn't know that. Most visitors don't.

Pursuit – listed on the New York Stock Exchange as PRSU and headquartered in Denver, Colorado – reported record revenue of $452.4 million for 2025, a 23.4% increase on the previous year. For a company whose Canadian mouhttps://www.banffjaspercollection.com/ntain portfolio sits inside two of the most visited national parks on earth, that number is worth pausing on.

Who Owns the Banff Gondola and Jasper SkyTram – and What Else

Pursuit's footprint in the Canadian Rockies is considerable. In Banff National Park, the company operates the Banff Gondola on Sulphur Mountain. In Jasper National Park, it runs the Jasper SkyTram, the Forest Park Hotel, and Lobstick Lodge. These are not peripheral assets. They are, by most measures, the commercially dominant attractions in both parks.

The 2025 results were bolstered significantly by recovery at Pursuit's Jasper properties following the 2024 wildfire that tore through the townsite. The company received $4.2 million in business interruption insurance related to those lost profits, which gives some indication of what a disrupted season costs at that scale.

The Spending Plans Every Visitor Should Know About

For 2026, Pursuit has confirmed it intends to invest between $88 million and $93 million in what it calls “organic growth capital expenditures” across its portfolio. Two Canadian Rockies properties are explicitly named in those plans.

At the Jasper SkyTram, the company plans to replace ageing infrastructure with what it describes as a renewed sightseeing experience. At the Banff Gondola, planned investments aim to improve the guest journey across the board. Neither project comes with a specific completion date in the earnings report, and both are listed as subject to approvals, which, inside a national park, is not a formality.

The Forest Park Hotel in Jasper is also mid-renovation. The first phase, completed before the 2025 peak season, delivered a 22% increase in average daily room rates for renovated rooms compared to those still waiting their turn. The next phase is expected to wrap before the 2026 peak season.

One Company, Two Parks, One Very Specific Strategy

Pursuit's CEO, David Barry, has described the company's long-term ambition as becoming “the world's leading iconic attractions and hospitality company.” The plan, branded internally as Vision 2030, targets revenue of more than $845 million and adjusted EBITDA of more than $265 million by the end of the decade.

To put that in practical terms for a visitor planning a summer trip: the company that controls your gondola ride, your tram ticket, and potentially your hotel room in both Banff and Jasper is a publicly traded corporation with a 15% return hurdle on new investments and shareholders expecting compounding growth through 2030.

That is not a criticism. Pursuit has clearly invested in its properties, and the post-wildfire recovery in Jasper has been meaningful for a community that needed it. But it is context worth having when you're deciding how to spend a day – and a not insignificant amount of money – in the mountains.

What This Means for Your Trip to Banff or Jasper in 2026

Visitors to the Banff Gondola or Jasper SkyTram in 2026 may encounter active construction or phased improvements at both sites. Neither attraction is expected to close entirely, but the experience at each may look different from previous visits.
